La pedodonzia è una branca odontoiatrica che si occupa della salute orale dei bambini con particolare attenzione alla prevenzione di carie sui denti da latte ed eventuali problematiche che possano compromettere la dentizione permanente. Le principali abitudini viziate che andrebbero curate precocemente sono:
- Suzione del dito
- Presenza di respirazione orale
- deglutizione atipica o infantile
Importanti cure preventive nei bambini sono le applicazioni di fluoro sulla superficie dei denti e le sigillature dei solchi dentali entrambe hanno come scopo la prevenzione della carie.
